Winter Bushcraft Skills Weekend

Join us for this exciting 3 day course, focused on a range of Bushcraft skills!

 

Develop a fluency in the basic skill sets needed to survive and thrive in the wilderness.

 

Becoming capable of self-sufficiency supports a deeper sense of belonging and personal empowerment.

 

This course will give you what you need to take both care of yourself in an emergency situation, as well as to begin you on the meaningful and practical journey of living more closely in connection to the Earth. 

 

Skills you will learn:

– Friction fire

– Wildcrafting

– Basic to advanced Knife skills

– Basic to advanced Hatchet skills

– Cordage making from natural materials

– Stone tools

– Survival debris shelter

– Tarp craft

– Lashing techniques 

– Other survival theory, worldview, and techniques for application

 

 Join a highly skilled and experienced mentors for this exciting opportunity to learn numerous ancestral bushcraft skills, and gather around the fire made in the ancient way.

9am to 3pm each day

 

LOCATION: South end Salt Spring Island (close to Ruckle Park)

Instructor

Matt McKinney has been working with the Deep Nature Connection mentoring model and the ancestral skills movements since 2009 and has studied extensively with various practitioners and specialists in the field. He is currently one of the core mentors with the Wisdom of the Earth adult Immersion program and was a mentor for WOLF Kids program for many years. Matt’s commitment to regenerative culture and remembering how to live with the Earth has taken him to many places in North America, the tropics, and Europe. His passion and commitment to mentoring shines through, supporting others to find balance on an old path through a modern landscape.
